Many first-time visitors to popular waterfalls in the area are disappointed by the low flow they discover when they finally reach their destination.  Most Arkansas waterfalls do not flow plentifully year round and require a significant amount of rainfall to really get going.  To successfully view and photograph Arkansas waterfalls, one not only needs to possess a good guide to finding them (I recommend Tim Ernst’s Arkansas Waterfalls guide book), but also must monitor rainfall totals in the area.

The internet is an excellent resource for up-to-date information on flow conditions for Arkansas waterfalls.  I recommend joining and following one of the many available forums or Facebook groups dedicated specifically to Arkansas waterfalls.  Many participants in these groups share updates on conditions at waterfalls they've recently visited.  It can save the first-time waterfall visitor much frustration.

Waterfall enthusiasts throughout the state have taken many excellent photographs of Arkansas waterfalls that showcase their natural beauty.  Fine Art America has a large selection of these that can be purchase in a wide variety of formats.  These can be viewed here:
